Turn your passion for sport into a career!
Adam Kourakis is an SWL grad and local entrepreneur.
After high school, Adam went to uOttawa and earned a BSc with Specialization in Human Kinetics. During his undergrad, he played on the school’s volleyball team, swim team and varsity track & field team. He quickly realized that sport was much more than a hobby and wanted to turn his passion for athletics into a career.
In 2014, one year after graduating, Adam opened his first business; Velofix Ottawa. Velofix is a mobile bicycle shop and was featured on CBC’s Dragons Den. In 2017, 2018 and 2019, Velofix Ottawa was named “Best Bike Shop in Canada”.
Adam is still the owner and head mechanic with Velofix Ottawa but he’s recently become the owner of 2 other businesses: TriRudy and Somersault.
TriRudy is a multisport website that motivates athletes in the Ottawa area to participate and excel in long-distance sporting events, like marathons and Ironman Triathlons. It has over 7,000 members and is built around a free daily e-newsletter that members can contribute to.
Somersault is one of Canada’s largest race organizations. They host dozens of running and multisport races, from 1km runs to Marathons, to Half Iron Triathlons.
