Rugby career
University of Ottawa
– Bennett played 4 seasons with Gee Gees Women’s Varsity Rugby team (2011-2012, 2015, 2017), where she captained her 2017 season
– In her 2017 season, Bennett was an RSEQ First Team All-Star and Academic All-Canadian
– She was named U Sports Championship Tournament All-Star and MVP in 2017 where she helped her team win a National Championship title in Lethbridge, Alberta
– She was also named Female Athlete of the Year 2017-2018 alongside her brother Jackson Bennett who was also awarded Male Athlete of the Year
Team Canada (2016-2018)
– Bennett started her career with team Canada by bringing home silver at the FISU World Sevens Championship in Wales, June 2016
– She helped her team win gold at the Hokkaido Sevens Invitational tournament in Japan, September 2017
– She toured with the Canadian Senior Women’s 15s squad in a tour test series in England, November 2017
– She also took home gold for the Okinawa Sevens Invitational tournament in Japan, February 2018
Professional career
– Bennett started her career during her undergraduate degree working part-time as a Research Assistant I at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute where she garnered an interest in epidemiology
– She continued to work as a Research Assistant throughout her undergrad and Master’s degree and focused her research in systematic reviews, cost-effectiveness analyses, and data analysis
– Bennett currently works full-time as a Research Assistant III in mental health research at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
Personal life
– Bennett’s father is a Signals Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and her and her family have lived in over 5 different Canadian cities
– Proudly related to Carter and Jackson Bennett (also pretty amazing products of SWL)
– She currently lives downtown Ottawa with her boyfriend
