Occupation: Birth Doula / Community Builder / Advocate

Jamie is a certified Teacher and a certified Birth Doula. As a Birth Doula, Jamie protects women’s birth memories by providing information, support and comfort during labour and delivery.

She is a passionate advocate for sensitive and respectful woman-centered care for women during childbirth, informed decision making in parenting and safe access to abortion.

She tirelessly volunteers and is committed to creating community. She can often be found organizing events at her children’s school, attending War Amps Champ events with her daughter who is an amputee, organizing neighbourhood family get-togethers and hosting support group meetings.

She had been interviewed by CBC Radio’s White Coat Black Art, the podcast What Women Don’t Do and the Ottawa Citizen and has presented to The Ottawa Hospital’s Board of Directors and The Ontario Association of Midwives annual conference on her advocacy work surrounding maternal health care.

She is a stay at home mom to 3 smart and spunky kids.

She is a yes person, a rule breaker and is energized by circles of women, karaoke and campfires in the woods.
